The category that you use for those payments to subs should have a 1099 tax line associated with it. In Q, it's that associated Tax Line that determines how this is reported.1 -

In my brokerage accounts, I just show the cash as cash … and don't bother with it REALLY being a MMF. That way, I don't have to mess with all of the MMF buy & sell transactions.1 -
