Have you tried the Portfolio Value report? I have Premier but I believe that is available in Deluxe. There is a button on the report to show the individual lots including the purchase date of each.1 -

Not exactly. I suggest you look into setting up Savings Goals as I believe it will accomplish what you want. Check out Quicken help on the subject1 -

If I may ask, why do you start a new file each year? My Quicken file goes back to the 90's. Seems like you are just creating more work for yourself.1
