Is your register sorted in date order? Click the DATE column heading and check the filter settings at the top.
I'm staying on Quicken 2013 Premier for Windows.

All accounts? Just some?yes it is it starts with 9/27/13 and goes down to 12/31/12
If just one (or some) have you tried clicking the RESET button at the top of those account registers?
If all, are you sure that you opened the CURRENT Q data file ... and not one from 5-6 years ago?
Also, usually, Q account registers are sorted so that the OLDEST transactions are at the top, and the newest at the bottom. Is this the way that your's are sorted? Click on the DATE column header to put them into this order.Q user since February, 1990. DOS Version 4

How did you determine "newest file on the system"? Last used date is just that ... the last time that you opened the file, and we already know that you've opened this file today.yes it is it starts with 9/27/13 and goes down to 12/31/12
What happens when you open, and inspect, other Q data files?
Do you have backups that you can restore, and inspect them.
Because, more than anything else, it sounds like you opened an old Q data file.Q user since February, 1990. DOS Version 4

Is your register positioned correctly?
If, as you said, the transactions are sorted by descending Date, newest transaction on top of the page, is the vertical slider on the right side of the register positioned all the way on the top?
If it isn't, grab the slider with the mouse and push it all the way to the top. What do you see now?
To help us understand the situation, can you show us the register page that you are looking at?
Can
you please capture one or more images of the parts of your Quicken window
showing the issue, sensitive information blacked out as necessary to protect
your privacy but annotated to describe the situation, and attach the image(s)
here?
The Windows Snipping Tool (available with Windows 7 and up) can be used to
capture a partial screen image and save it to a file. Microsoft Paint can be used to annotate the
image.

Please create image files of type PNG, JPG or GIF only.
To attach the image here, start composing your reply. At the bottom of the text
entry window on the webpage you'll see a row of icons beginning with B I U
S
Click the camera icon (not the video camera icon). It will allow you to select
and upload the captured image file from your computer. The captured image will
be inserted at wherever the cursor is located in the text.
