Investing transaction cash balance discrepancy with reconcilled figure

My investing transaction account correctly shows a  current cash balance of zero (and starting cash balance in 2016 as zero) and similarly with each monthly RMD transaction yet when I perform the Reconcile function a "Prior cash balance" shows an amount corresponding to a sale three months previously. I am not having this issue with my wife's account. Any suggestions?
