Entering Investment for Company Stock Share Plan

Can anyone tell me how to enter "Transfer MIP to SMP"? I have a Cost Basis and Market Value that are different.
Example shown on Excel Spreadsheet:
Share Matching Program Shares Transfer MIP to SMP Feb 2011 Purchase 87.92222(Cost Basis) 100.98(Market Price) 0.82(Allocated #) 0.07(Outstanding #) 0.07(Available #) $7.48(Estimated Current Value)

It would help if you'd explain the terms "MIP" and "SMP" and if you'd explain what happened in real life.Because, at first glance, this looks like a simple SALE of MIP and PURCHASE of SMP.
