How do I recover my Quicken 2000 data backup
radhiram
I was using Quicken 2000 on a windows xp computer that suddenly died. I have regular backups of my data. I managed to get Quicken 2000 installed on a Windows 7 64 bit computer, but I am unable to restore my backed up data. I get an error saying one or more backup files are missing. My backup is in four files xxxx.QDF, xxxx.QEL, xxxx.QPH, xxxx.IDX, Either something is wrong with my quicken 2000 installation on Windows 2000 or with my backed up data. I am willing to update to a new version of quicken if this means I will be able to access my backed up data. I have tried a few tips offered for similar questions but none has worked. Please help.

According to:
https://www.quicken.com/support/quicken-data-file-set-extensions
Quicken 2000 used QDF, QSD, and QEL. The QPH was introduced in Quicken 2003 and IDX was Quicken 2004. The use of these file types persisted until Quicken 2010. So, you were likely using a Quicken version between 2004 and 2009.
I suggest you review:

You should be able download, install, and use the free Quicken 2013 Deluxe. I suggest you also download and apply the Quicken 2013 R12 Mondo patch from:

Thanks for your help. Turned out that I was using Quicken Deluxe 2006, and I managed to locate the installation disk and installed it on windows 7 and then was able to restore my data. Thanks for pointing out that I had the wrong version. Since it has been a while, I had forgotten the version I was using.
