Errors and Troubleshooting (Windows)
I keep getting the error ""cannot open data file because it is in use by some other app...." HELP

I have deleted OneDrive. Quicken is backed up to my Documents. I am not sure what to do or how to remedy. I have tried what has previously been suggested. I have rebooted my computer....I cannot restore a backup or save any new transactions to the file I have.

You have not specified exactly where the file and backups are stored (path), but make sure the Quicken data file (and backups) do not contain any spaces in the name. Rename to QDATA if need be to see if it will open.

the file and backups are stored on C drive to my computer. However, I just was able to do something that has freed up the file...I turned off the "Controlled folder access" in Settings, Security, Virus & threat protection under Randsomware protection and now I am able to get into the file and save transactions! I am not sure if I should turn the controlled folder access back on or not!?
