Why do I get a message to delete Quicken on my computer when it doesn't show up in my programs?

I tried to install Quicken on a new computer with the CD. For some reason it didn't complete. I then tried to download and install and kept getting a message to delete the program from my computer. I tried deleting through the control panel but Quicken does not appear in the list of programs. I tried several times and finally gave up.
