Which is easier? Migrating 2007>2013 or 2007 > 2015 or 2007>2017???

I have seen comments about migrating 2007 > 2017 or to 2019 was difficult. Could not tell if they could after all.

What about 2007 > 2013 or to 2015 ? Easier?
But is it worth migrating from 2007 to 2013 or to 2015?

Do you want to upgrade to a current version to be able to download transactions?  If not, You can convert to the 2013 version since you don’t use any online services or download transactions now. Starting in 2014 they instituted an ID password to get into your own data. I’m staying on 2013.

You can download 2013 Deluxe for free using this how to convert article.  It’s under Converting from Quicken 2004-2009.

FYI - All Quicken versions prior to QW2010 store your data in a series of files all sharing the same filename but with different extensions like - .IDX, .QEL, .QPH & .QDF, and all 4 of those files were rolled into a single-file .QDF in starting in 2010.

  • Thank you 'volvogirl' (I used to be a volvoboy---144S 1970....this rear wheel drive was beating all other FWD sedans in the Winters....except the white elephant 4WDs of those days. I still don't know why! Now I dated myself...oh well!)

Great info. Interestingly, my gut started to tell me to converge on 2013 or 2015 for upgrade purposes. Now I received more info. As soon as I find out what is the comparison between 2007>2013 versus 2007>2015 I would proceed. This would appease my wife who believes that newer is better.... without exception! Now I would meet her half way.

I have a 1997 V90.  It was the flagship model that year.  I bought it because it was the last year to have rear wheel drive and makes the tightest U turn.  Had a 83 240 wagon before.

I believe you have to go though 2013 first to get to the higher versions.  So try 2013 for awhile and see if you like it.
