How to disable splits in reports?

There is an option to disable splits in report formats, but it doesn't seem to work. How doyou disable splits in reports?

    When I pull up an expense report by payee it produced the report. However there's only one total amount column. Is there a way to show split and another column for grand total of splits for each payee. Comes in handy when searching a particular reciept. As it is I have to double click each to go to the check resister to see grand total. A report with two columns representing splits and one representing total of the splits would be nice. How do I get that?
