Why does the stock portfolio not update with additional shares when I enter a stock dividend?

I entered a stock dividend transaction in my portfolio but the total shares shown does not update. How can I get it to function properly?

    In the transaction view, scroll to the beginning of the register. You likely have a placeholder transaction (in light gray) that is offsetting the stock dividend when you enter it.

    There is no placeholder transaction showing.
