about starting up on windows

My Quicken opens to the main screen, then, a smaller white window opens in the middle of the screen with a request to sign on to Quicken. Then? Nothing. No cursor. No way to enter any password. When I click the x in the upper right hand corner, the white window closes, then reopens, blocking any access to Quicken. HELP!!
