How do you plan on adding the late fee?
By creating a new Invoice with a Finance Charge line item and then mailing it? You should not edit an existing unpaid invoice and add line items to it.
Or by using the Finance Charge action in the Invoices account? This will add a record to the invoices account register, but to let the customer know about the Finance Charge you need to create and mail a Customer Statement.
