How to change the location of my quicken data

Embarrassing, but I've messed up, apparently having all my data on an external drive. I just wanted backups to go there. So I'm looking at EDIT > PREFERENCES >BACKUP but it only tells me how to adjust frequency. It doesn't tell me how to direct the saving of the "real" file vs. the manual backups.
(I take it that auto backups cannot be directed independently. They always go with the real file. Correct?)

You need to use Windows File Explorer to move your Quicken folder to C:\Users\<Username>\Documents. Once the folder is moved, double click on the data file to open it so Quicken will remember the location.Quicken Subscription HBRP - Windows 105

Hi @Jeanne ,
See this FAQ: https://community.quicken.com/discussion/7307115/add-your-quicken-information-to-your-posts-plus-how-you-are-connected-to-the-internet
You haven't posted your Quicken or operating system information, to say exactly what to do, now. Comment back after looking at the link.

Thanks to both of you. Greg correctly surmised that us Windows users tend to forget there are others and therefore omit to mention the platform, etc. I moved the files, and I feel much better (safer).0
