How do you make an investment transaction automatically adjust the cash balance?

I'm attempting to resolve a placeholder entry by manually entering historic transactions. However, when I enter a buy or sell transaction, it will not automatically adjust the cash balance. I'm having to post a second entry to adjust the cash balance. Why? How do I fix this?

If you enter a Buy or Sell prior to the Placeholder date, Quicken will block any change to the cash balance.
One way to work around this is to note the date and share balance of the Placeholder then delete it before entering earlier transactions.
As always, back up your data file before messing with historical transactions.QWin Premier subscription5
