Why checks do not show 00/100 on amount line

When I write a check for a flat dollar amount, the written dollar/cents amount says, "Five hundred only" instead of "Five Hundred and no/100. Why is that? Can I re-set the check writing format?

@katemac, what do you perceive as the difference between " ..only" and "and no/100".
Because, as a former bank Audit VP AND a former manager of check processing systems for a "Big 5 bank", I can tell you that, legally and practically, there IS no difference.
And, no, there's nothing that you can do in Quicken to change that.

Thank you. I was not familiar with the '...only' terminology.
