Within Q, the signin shows my old, invalid email address and won't allow a change in the box.

Quicken runs fine, m/l, but whenever it needs my username/password, the signin box is prefilled with an old, invalid email address. Unfortunately, it's shaded gray with a red "x". As I no longer have access to this old email account, how can I unlock this box?

To update your Quicken ID email address, I suggest you select Help > My Quicken Account and Change Quicken Email/Quicken ID

Next, reset the Quicken ID associated with the data file:

Select Edit > Preferences...
Select Quicken ID, Sync & Alerts
Select Sign in as a different user
Enter yes
Select Sign Out
Sign in with the correct Quicken ID

Thanks for posting to our community.

If you are unable to change your Quicken ID during the sign-in prompt, you can click the Create a new ID for your data file or Sign in with a different Quicken ID link towards the bottom of the window.

You should be able to enter your current Quicken ID on the next window and sign back in.
