In that account, in the column headers for that account, which FIELD has a triangle in it?  And what direction is that triangle pointed?

The triangle indicates the sort order, and sort direction, of the account and the Balance field is only populated when the DATE field is the sort key.  Click on the DATE column header to sort by that field.  Click on it again to reverse the sort order.
