Direct Connect no longer imports into existing acct, but rather creates a new one. Why?

My Bank of America Checking account has been updating accurately for years. Today, it will not import into the existing account, but it does important and create a new account with the accurate data. I notice the new account Quicken created only uses the last 4 digits of my account number, whereas the original account lists the entire account number. I had hoped I could go into the original account and edit the account number to use only the last 4 digit method, but that is not an editable field. I went through the "update account now" steps and received the code to my phone to proceed, but still did not work. I suppose I could transfer all of the new transactions from one account to the other, but I would prefer to understand why it suddenly is not compatable. Thank you.

@Amy6 - When an FI changes something about how it connects to Quicken it sometimes will do what you are seeing. This happens a lot when the FI changes the account number (or the number of account number characters) that the FI downloads. The fix for this is rather simple:
- Make a backup of your Quicken file so it can be recovered in case there is a problem encountered with the following process.
- Go to your Account Register.
- Click on the Gear icon at the top right of the register screen and the click on "Account Details."
- Click on the "Online Services" tab and click on "Deactivate".
- Click on the "General" tab and delete all the Financial Institution information in the top right corner, including your account number.
- Click on the "Online Services" tab and click on "Set up Now" and follow the set up process.
- During the set up process, you will likely be prompted to either add a new account, link to an existing account or ignore. Be sure to link to your Quicken BoA checking account.
