Quicken Find (default search field)
Every time I open Find in a transaction register, the search field defaults to Date. This is not useful to me and I'd like to the default search to start with Payee. I've looked through all of the options in the Preferences menu, but haven't located a solution. Is there a way to change this in the application or Windows Registry?

The Find defaults to the field that you are in. So if you select a payee in a transaction and type Ctrl+F it will select payee, contains, and the payee that you selected.

P.S. For searching any field in the register you might want to try the search in the upper right of the register. It will filter transactions to match what you typed in. And from there you can do multiple selects to change some things. You might also want to try the global search in the upper right of Quicken.Signature:

Typing in the upper right of the register is a "WINNER".....great idea Chris. This makes it so easy for me now. I tried to post a "new idea" but couldn't figure out if I was in right place or not, then I saw your follow note about using the upper right of the register and, I am good with that. No need to spend any more time. Thanks again.0

This function of Quicken Find defaulting to the field where the cursor is has been a part of Quicken for multiple decades. It disappeared a few months ago during one of the patches installed by Quicken. I figured that they would restore it, but not yet. I hope it makes it back in via "new features" but it really wouldn't be.0 -

Over the years it has actually switched back and forth. This change was done intentionally because some users did want it the way it is now. That is the reason that they really need to make an option for it. And voting on the idea that @Rocket J Squirrel posted will help in that.Signature:

@Chris_QPW Yes, that's the problem, they keep responding to the loudest voice at the time.
You can't please everybody, but in this case I think they can, just give the users the option to have it either way.Quicken 2017 Premier - Windows 10 Pro1
