Exporting only open accounts?

I can't see a way to delete accounts, not even closed accounts. I have a lot of them and most have been dead for years. I want to export to QIF, but all those come along in the export. I don't see a way to tell it not to export closed files. Is there a way I'm not seeing or is that not possible?
