Are you sure you have opened this year's data file and not an old one?
If you are sure about having opened the correct data file with this year's transactions, ...
Filtered register? Unexpected register sort order? "Missing" data?

Goes to Checking 2018 and I want to Checking 20 I can get to 20 but should automatically open to 20
