I know the thread is old but had a follow up to this - the "shares added" solved the same cash problem I had but I'd like the "shares added" to be classified as a deposit to the account on the investing activity report so that I can see the change in account balance that is from gains/losses vs new money/securities coming in. Is there a way to achieve that?

"Shares added"  impacts the securities held in the account.
"Deposit" refers to cash added to an account.
SO, I'm not sure what you're asking for ... it seems to be a mixed metaphor.
