In the Reports Menu, the Current Budget shows Year-to-Date, with the budget of the current month prorated to today's date. This allows you to see how you're doing for this month, under budget, on target, over budget.
The Historical Budget doesn't prorate the current month and can be used to show this year with actual data from January to today and forecast the rest of the year, based on scheduled reminders as if they were actual transactions already.
Off the back of my head, that's the biggest differences I'm aware of. If I'm missing something, I'm quite sure that someone will chime in here and tell us.
