401K stock price does not match what Quicken downloads

Question

Some of the stock prices in my 401k do not match what quicken download. My administator says they are a plan specific price plan not marke price. So how can I update these?

Hi @Daniel Borowicz,

This is not an uncommon situation (oftentimes it involves plans established by insurance companies and/or small employer plans), however it does present challenges.  Unless the plan's (or administrator's) website (assuming there is one) for the plan actually has a download function, you will likely have to manually update the prices in Quicken.

To do that - you can:

1) Open the 401k account in Quicken;
2) Click on the "Holdings" box at the top of the page;
3) Right-click on the name of the investment you want to update, and scrool down to "Price History";
4) Click "the "New" button at the top of the pop-up window;
5) Enter the appropriate "Date" and the "Price" and click "OK"

Another quicker way is to change the price in Investing Tab, Portfolio.
