How do I enter an early payoff on an mortgage loan?
theresahubbell
I am using Quicken Deluxe and I am trying to enter an early payoff for a mortgage loan. We refinanced the loan and I tried using the directions for transferring the loan but that did not work since the only directions I found did not follow the menu items/directions for the Quicken I am running apparently. I do have the new loan entered and linked to the house but it still shows the old loan outstanding and I cannot find how to enter the payoff. It does not seem like it should be this difficult or complicated. I would appreciate any help! Thanks!

I suggest you use the loan payment reminder or memorized payee: open the loan, press
Alt + Shift + N
, select
Enter Loan Payment
,
Split
, enter the remaining principal as a transfer to the loan account on the third entry, select
Adjust
,
OK
, reset the date field, ...
