Click menu Quicken > Preferences > Register > Register Toolbar and check that it is set to Always Show or Automatically Hide and Show.
That said, you can always edit a register entry by simply double clicking it or hitting Return/Enter on the keyboard with the transaction selected.. Or click menu Transactions > Edit Transaction or Command-E on the keyboard.
You can create a new transaction by clicking menu Transactions > New Transaction or Command-N on the keyboard.Quicken Mac Subscription; Quicken Mac user since the early 90s5

@dfuhrman Please elaborate that you are not able to edit an entry; what happens when you double-click on a transaction? Also, please indicate what version of Quicken you have (in the Quicken > About Quicken menu) and what version of macOS you are running, in case that's relevant.Quicken Mac Subscription • Quicken user since 19930
