How to Merge categories in investment transactions?

I tried to recategorize investment transactions in category "_IntInc" to category "Interest Income:Bond interest", but got a Quicken message that I would have to do that by editing one transaction at a time (over 600 of them!). There are transactions in both categories. How can I merge the two categories?

Merging categories implies you are going to delete the category that you are merging from. The "_XXXXX" investment categories are mandatory and you can not delete them, therefore you can't do a category merge.

If you run the Investment Transactions report, you can do a Find & Replace from it._IntInc is not is the dropdown list, but it can be typed in to do the find.BE SURE TO MAKE A BACKUP BEFORE DOING ANY OF THIS IN CASE YOU DON'T LIKE THE RESULTS.

How (what transactions) did you assign the "Interest Income:Bond Interest" category?
You may be able to use a Banking Transactions report customized to the Investment account and therein change from that category to the built-in "_IntInc" category.
You will not be able to change an Interest Income (Action = "IntInc") transaction to use your "Interest Income:Bond Interest" category. That transaction type uses only "_IntInc" or "_IntIncTaxFree" as applicable.5
