Quicken Classic for Windows
Registers & Transactions (Windows)
reconciling
neilhh20
I've used quicken for many years.
This last year with changes in quicken software and software updates at the bank (Exchange Bank) has been horrible time waster.
One of these problems seems to be a reconcilation issue, so sharing it in case anyone else has some insights
I'm downloading directly through .qfx - so at least I can see what the data is when something goes wrong
Recently one set of transactions won't appear in the reconcile register.
They exist in the check register, but when I reconicle don't appear.
I start off by reconiciling for a month, and then when its out, track it down in the register.
So on the download the two "Cot Ha" are unusual purchase same day (name altered slightly) appear in the reconcile register.
The next two from KAISER , which is a typical every month did appear in the reconicilation window.
I sent a message through to support with details, but heard nothing back.
Any idea?

"I sent a message through to support with details, but heard nothing back."
If you are talking about: Help -> Report a problem, that does submit a problem the Quicken developers, but they will almost never respond back they just use the information for trying to track down bugs and such for future development.
On your reconcile problem. Given the QFX data and your screenshot, something is seriously wrong with either your data file or Quicken. Because all those transactions have the exact same posting date and that is what Quicken uses for the reconcile, but like you said the Kaiser transactions aren't showing up.
You can check the posting date by turning on the Downloaded posting date column in the register. It certainly should be the same as in the QFX entries.
About the only thing I can think of to try is Validate & Repair on the data file.
Well maybe also try it in a new data file, just to see if it is Quicken (the program) or the data file.

The reconcile window with the Check register underneath it - just one day of reconcilation

Hey Chris, thanks for the quick response.
I did actually try the Validate and Repair and no effect.
Thanks for tip in enabling the Posting Date - that seems to show it.
Its marked as posting Oct 5th. Which is when the next set of exactly the same transactions downloaded. So I'm guess I downloaded on Oct 5th, and it matched those transactions to the Sept/8 transactions. I just downloaded the register, and saw those where missing (!!!!) and entered them manually.
I've seen some other really painful issues like that as well but managed to correct.
So when I reconcile to Oct 5th - it balances. Hurrah.
Again much appreciate the pointer.

I suggest you check the
Posting Date
set of the missing transactions. If you haven't already, you may want to review:
