I have a Budget Expense Category total which is greater than the sum of the subcatgories.

DRayG posted a similar problem with an income category in August. Mine is an expense category were the category total is greater than the sum of the subcategories. Unfortunately the explanation for his issue does not apply as all the subcategories are checked and included in the Budget setup. The detail which is displayed when selecting the total does not show any extra transactions and does not match the total displayed on the budget report. Any input would be welcome.

This sounds like there might be a transaction which uses the main category and no subcategory.
For instance, if the category was Entertainment, and you have the following three transactions:
Entertainment:Arts $100
Entertainment:Amusement $50
Entertainment $20
The budget will show a total of $170 for Entertainment, followed by two sub-categories which paradoxically total $150.Quicken Mac Subscription • Quicken user since 19935

Good call. The offending entry was partially obscured because it was one-half of a split transaction so it wasn't obvious when I went looking for it. Thanks a lot.0
