how do I change the name of a file after I've created it?

Close Quicken, rename the file using Windows Explorer, then double click on the renamed file to cause Quicken to start and open that data file and resetting the recent file list on the File menu. I suggest keeping the file's name short (8 or less characters) since having spaces and long file names can cause issues with Quicken not being able to find the file.
If you click on the original file's name in the recent file list, Quicken will complain that it can't find the file and offer to remove it from the recent file list.
