Unable to login after upgrading to Quicken 2016

I have been helping a friend upgrade Quicken from an older version which was working ok but she was advised to upgrade. She chose 2016. I installed it and watched as it upgraded the file to the new version. the file opened then immediately an Intuit Quicken sign-in page popped up requiring an Intuit ID and password. Huh? Why? it won't take the login information and won't allow me to create a new Intuit ID. Fails when I say forgot ID and Fogot password. Won't allow a reset.
There does not appear to be a way to get around this requirement login requirement even though I have the installation CD.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?

When Intuit sold Quicken there was a change over to an Quicken Id, and servers for the Intuit Id have been taken down.
You need to install the latest Mondo patch from here and then you should be log in:
