    How about the Reports > Spending > Itemized Categories report

    Click Update to Show and select Transaction detail. The category total is at the top.

    For the record, another option would be to use the Reports > Banking > Banking transaction report. Set the date range and next to Subtotal by: pick Category.

    Like the Itemized Categories report, you can click on the gear to customize it and select the columns you want to see, but the Banking Transactions report has a wider list of available columns.
