Ability to navigate the program during update is gone. Since when?

Hello
I recall an earlier version of quicken that allowed us to navigate the registers and accounts, while a one-step-update was happening.
That has obviously disappeared, no? Or am I wrong?

It's be great to have the program multithreaded and do database and one-step updates as separate threads, but alas, that's not the case in the Windows version.

    Make your suggestion!

This has changed over the years, most of the years it hasn't been a feature.

Of course users would love to keep working while Quicken updates, or even be able to just abort the One Step Update.  But the reality is that One Step Update makes changes that in turn change thing in the GUI. And as such there are cases where the interaction between what the user is doing and the update is doing conflict and cause problems.  And that "interaction" is very hard to control because in fact Quicken doesn't have a very good "update GUI policy".  As in parts of the GUI are updated when they doing really have to be, and sometimes even multiple times and this is all happening deep in the guts of Quicken instead going through some controlled routines to make sure everything works properly together.

Bottom line is tried, and failed.
