Can you tell us which versions of Quicken and Windows you are using? The calculator always appears in the account register columns that accept amount (or numerical) entries when you click in those fields. That doesn't mean you
must
use the calculator to make an entry. If you click outside of a column that accepts amount entries the calculator should disappear. [edited for typo]

Sherlock
To close the register calculator, press the
Esc
key.
If you're attempting to use the number pad for numerical entry, you may need to press the N
um Lock
key
UKR
BTW, you don't need to click the calculator icon to open the mini calculator.
Tab into the field and you can use the keyboard directly to enter a calculation, e.g., 100+5+25[Enter]
Works in all amount fields in the register and Split transaction view and other views.

Frankx - - thanks also. Using Quicken Deluxe subscription on Win 10 home. Your comments helpful. Don't often use calculator often so foggy memory sets in

Thanks UKR - - that's a lot simpler than using the calculator.
