Quicken Crashes and Errors Updating Transactions [edited]

I am getting so tired this morning of Quicken crashing and having to re-start...also, simply impossible to update banking transactions! To compound the frustration, some of the error messages say "wait a day or two..." Come on - really? Wait is the answer? Unacceptable.

FIX THIS NOW!

    Hi @hmlukens,

    It will be helpful if you can provide some additional information on the problems you are having.  Please tell us the name of the bank or banks, how you connect with them (i.e. Direct Connect, Express Web Connect, or Web Connect) and the specific error code or codes you are receiving.

    Also - on the "crashing" issue, can you describe exactly what happens and what the program was trying to do (downloading, updating prices, or whatever process you were attempting, etc.) when the "crash" occurs.

    The more details you can provide, the better.  Thanks in advance.

    Seems to have started after I applied the update from this morning, but, can't definitively connect those dots. Crashed on MANY occasions - when trying to export transactions, when trying to do bank updates, seemed like anything that was either CPU or disk intensive...

    And, I know these are all to intermittent to place a cause on...just seemed to be happening more and more this morning - again, after the update. Syncing bank accounts is a big deal for me and not having it work is REALLY frustrating...

    It's PNC bank - Web connect.

    And, it crashed while trying to sync to the cloud just now! unacceptable!

    And, crashed while attempting yet another bank update...just stops working.

    This is now becoming my 'venting' vehicle!

    If you haven't rebooted Windows since you installed the latest software update, please do so now and then try Quicken again.

    Let's do some "Troubleshooting 101" to ensure the Quicken software is installed and updated properly and that your data file is in good working order.

    Tried all of the steps...no joy...when I went to do an update, it processed for a few seconds and then stop responding.

    I would suggest that you turn off "cloud sync" as follows:

    1) Go to "Edit" > "Preferences";
    2) In the left hand column - select "Mobile & Web";
    3) In the box on the right - move the switch from On to Off.

    After you do the above close out Quicken and then restart.  Let me know how that goes and whether it has corrected your issues.

    OK...tried that. Restarted and tried to update transactions. No transactions were updated, but the update seems to have run without issue. I did get a message to update to version Version R32.10 (March, 2021). Update installed. Apparently successful. Tried update after that and...using PNC Bank Web update, the update ran, but again, no transactions downloaded from bank.

    OK...here's a weird twist...i tried to print the register - all transactions from 1/1/21 to the end, which in my case is 5/30/21. Printing to a PDF file. This had been working fine even up to yesterday. Today, however, after going thru the same print dialogue, it tells me 'No Transactions to Print.' Huh?

    So, closed program and restarted...then it worked!

    Really strange behavior!

    You are connecting via Express Web Connect - assuming the account(s) is/are bank accounts rather than loans or credit cards - is their any reason you aren't using Direct Connect?

    So, starting this process by 'deactivating' all accounts that were accessing PNC with Web Connect...will then try and set up again...

    To connect using the "Direct Connect" method, you need to specify that method on setup - see the Snip below, which indicates the connection type you should select.

    Couldn't get direct connect to work...tried the 'Virtual Wallet' option...and, it worked - kinda...it created an 'Opening Balance' entry back in January, 2021 of a wacky amount...so, basically, I deleted that entry (noted amount in Memo field just in case) and things SEEM to be good. Will know more tomorrow morning after a link to the bank and we see what kind (if any) transactions show up.

    I think you will be very happy with PNC direct connect.  I've used it for many years and can only remember having issues on two occasions.
