Quicken not allowing web express access to Wells Fargo

Got msg saying Quicken effective 6/1/21 only allows direct connect to Wells Fargo, but express web connect is shown as an option in WF's own website. This is absurd. You have to pay a mo. fee for DC and I don't want or need it. Is there a way around this or is WF trying to get more money from account holders? What is your solution?

    It says it no longer supports "bank mail," but the result is that it has stopped connection to WF with the message that Direct Connect is the only way to use Quicken.

    Please provide a screen capture of the message that says: Direct Connect is the only way to use Quicken.

    The error message has appeared since I tried resetting the WF account in Quicken. Now it says that the 2 accounts affected (checking and savings) have been closed. When I attempt to "fix" the problem, it takes me thru steps asking if the account is closed, which I answer no to, then eventually get the Direct Connect message shown.

    The message appears to be an online bill payment service promotion provided to you by Wells Fargo explaining that to use Wells Fargo's bill payment service from within Quicken you would need to use the Direct Connect connection method.  What happens when you select Next?

    Here's the current Wells Fargo entry for supported downloading - all 3 methods are listed as supported.
    But of course, as per the message, you need Direct Connect for any Payment support directly thru Wells Fargo.
