Morning All

Windows 10 Pro - Build 19041.vb_release.191206-1406
Membership - June 01, 2022 - 347 days

Current version of Quicken - R32.10 Build 27.1.32.10 - Canada
Update R33.7 available

Will not update/install

Error: Administrator Account issue - quickPatch needs admin rights ...
The account has admin rights

Also try: "Run as Administrator" fails "quickenPatch.exe"

How do I fix this?

Had a chat this morning with support that was less that helpful.

Thanks for any assistance

Paul

P.S - Have screen shots if needed.

Try creating a new local administrator account and install using it.

Alternatively, enable and use the hidden Administrator account.
See https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/enable-the-hidden-administrator-account-on-windows-vista/ how to do that. Supposed to work in all Windows versions.

Good Morning and thank you for this info.

I get the same error in the hidden admin account that I do in my normal admin account.
"Could not parse the URL "%updatepath%/wyserver.wys" - it's either malformed or is an unknown protocol." when I right click and run quickenPatch.exe as administrator.

Any other pointers would be appreciated.

    Oh, that old error ...
Here's what to do about it:

In case of Patch installation error "Server file failed to load … Index and length …"

    Please follow instructions here:
    https://www.quicken.com/support/patch-error-unable-check-updates-server-file-failed-load
If the error message is about a file named "wyserver.wys", the problem is the Windows User Account name. If your Windows User files are located in a folder named, for example,
"C:\Users\John Doe\..." (with a blank space between John and Doe)
you need to create a new Windows User Account with Admin privileges and a name that does not contain a blank space, e.g., "John". Use the new account to install or update Quicken. Afterwards return to using your regular Windows User Account for running Quicken and doing all other work, as usual.

    Hi.

Thanks for continuing to offer ideas.

My regular account does not have a space but I followed as suggested.

Created an account "Oliver". Gave it Admin, logged in as Oliver and still got the failure. So I deleted Oliver.

Created "Bob". Gave Bob Admin, logged in as Bob and got the same failure.

Just to be sure I activated the Windows internal admin account, logged into it and got the same failure. (net user administrator /active:yes - net user administrator /active:no)

Each time I navigate directly to the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Quicken\quickenPatch.exe, right click and "Run as Administrator" Still get the same failure. "Could not parse the URL "%updatepath%/wyserver.wys" - it's either malformed or is an unknown protocol." I guess I am not lucky.

Anything else I should look for?
