searching archived files in quicken windows

a couple of years ago i did a YE archive of my file and only moved forward with transactions after a certain date. I am now trying to search my archived file and I don't know how to do that. If i try to open the file in quicken, i get a message that it is read only or i do not have permission to open it. I don't know what to do, please help!

    Where are your archive files stored, it sound like they are being stored on a read-only media like a DVD/CD.  To open a Quicken data file, the data file has to be writable.
