can't categorize a previously reconciled transaction

When I try to categorize a reconciled transaction Quicken asks if i want to change a reconciled transaction. I then click "yes" but Qkn wipes out my changes.

    That is odd.  Have you tried changing & saving the reconciled status to C or uncleared and then try changing the category?  If it works you can then change the reconciled status back to R.
