Account Reports

I have a checking account on Quicken that I use for household budgeting. It is 20 years old. I don't need to see 20 year old entries ever time I open that account. All I want is the cumulative total for each Category since beginning. Is there a way to start a new report for that account, beginning 3 years ago, but to carry over the each Category total from the beginning?

It is not clear exactly what you are asking for. Do you want the report to show the past 3 years of transactions for each Category but also show the total for each category for all time?

I don't know of a report that does that.

For example - If I had $2,000 in the Home Mortgage category as of 12/31/2018, I want to make a new report beginning on 1/1/2019, which will include the $2,000 as a beginning balance of the Home Mortgage category, but will not include all transactions since the account started in 2001.

I think the only way to do that is to run a register report.  While in an account do Ctrl+P

I'm staying on Quicken 2013 Premier for Windows.
