Quicken is locked up and I cannot use it

Quicken loads, and then puts up a prompt (big white box) with enter Quicken ID password on the top (not is bold print - faded). But it does not provide a place to enter the password, and it send a tone if I try to do anything, Esc does not work - the only way i have found to shut is down is to have the task manager stop it. Reloads puts it back in the same state - it is hung up in a loop - How do I get it to work again?

    Based on your description, I believe that you should perform an uninstall/reinstall of the Quicken application.  Here are detailed instructions on how to do that - LINK.
