How to handle VC fund investments

Wish there was a way to track private investments/assets that aren't property. Any suggestions how to handle LP & GP investments?

If the investment has shares that you can buy and sell, you can set up a special security and a manual account to hold it, then buy the appropriate number of shares and update the share price as it varies.
