My credit card charges are subtracting from balance

I can't understand why my credit card charges are subtracting from the balance instead of adding to the balance owed. I have gone through the register and every time I put a charge in my register for an item, it reduces the balance. Any help would be appreciated.

    What color are the numbers in your Balance column?  They should be RED.  IF they're Black, then you have a Credit Balance recorded and charges against that should reduce the Credit Balance.

    the numbers are definitely black.. but that being said... I did go back and seems that there were probably charges missing from the register that created a positive balance. Thank you.
