Does purchasing a subscription add to my existing or start new?

My current subscription is not set to end until March 22, 2022. If I find a good deal on a year's subscription and decide to purchase before that date, does it start from the day I start it, or does it add 12 months to my existing subscription?

This is the first time that I will have resubscribed under the subscription model.
