I'm trying to set up One Step Update but Quicken keeps searching and won't connect.

I wouldn't say unsafe.  I've never heard of the data aggregator that Quicken gets the service from (Intuit) having had a breach in data security.  It is just that EWC is the method that has the most problems with downloads.  If the FI makes a change to their website, it breaks.  It is just too fragile and I don't like wasting my time with a process that is breaks down a lot.  Just look at the typical complaint on this forum and it will be about an EWC issue.
So, I stick to either using Direct Connect or Web Connect .QFX downloads.

    Hi @ dirtymax,

I checked the Financial Institution directory and you should be able to connect to your credit union.  Can you tell me what happens when you try to make the connection?  Have you ever been able to connect in the past? Are you seeing any error codes?

Get beck to me and we'll go from there/

    The fidir.txt shows the following:
    08267    08267    08267    Credit Union of Colorado - New    https://www.cuofco.org/    800-444-4816    https://ob.cuofco.org/    ACTIVE
    BANKING,CREDIT,ACCOUNTINFO&DIRECT
    BANKING,CREDIT&WEB-CONNECT
    BANKING,CREDIT,ACCOUNTINFO&EXP-WEB-CONNECT

Are you selecting "Credit Union of Colorado - New"?  Definitely use "Advanced Option" when selecting so that you can choose "Direct Connect" the preferred method if available.

Thank you all, I've been using Quicken for many years with this account, changes to the website last year have not allowed me to re-connect using Direct Connect or Web Connect. After entering user name and password in the Activate One Step Update pop-up window and clicking "connect", the search wheel will just keep spinning.

If I go to CUOCs website and export to Quicken, the "edit account details" window says I'm connected, but, if I update from the individual account, I end up back on the website.

I have multiple accounts set up but CUOC is the only one I have trouble with.

Go to the Online Services tab of the Edit account and deactivate any connection that might exist.  then, on the General tab, delete the financial institution and account information.
    Close and restart Quicken.
Now, download a Web connect , .QFX, file from the CU's website.
Click on the downloaded .QFX file and Quicken should offer to create a new account, change the "add" to "link" and select the existing account.
Quicken should then import the transactions and you should accept and/or reject them based on whether they already exist in the account.
    Close and restart Quicken.
Quicken now knows the correct information for that account and you can try to improve the connection on the Online Services tab of Edit Account Details.

This is not working yet, after working through the process I updated from one of the accounts and it brought me back to the website, tried to improve the connection and the search wheel is spinning away. I'll use task manager to shut it down after awhile and then I'll try some variations of your method. Thx Splasher.

Another option is to NOT improve the connection and stick with doing the Web Connect .QFX file download & import.
I do this for several of my accounts that do not support Direct Connect and I refuse to use Express Web Connect.
