A Quicken file that has been opened with a Quicken subscription is supposedly still compatible with the Quicken 2016 and Quicken 2017 programs.  The Quicken file is not compatible with earlier versions of the Quicken program.

@Sherlock What do you consider "earlier versions" of quicken? I'm considering going back too!

Doesn't matter how little you did with Quicken with the data file, it was converted to the 2016+ format and is unusable by an earlier version.
A copy of the data file that you converted was put in a folder named Qxxfiles where the xx is the two digit year of the version of Quicken you converted from.
The other choice is to restore the last backup from the previous version.

-splasher using Q continuously since 1996
    - Subscription Quicken - Win11 and QW2013 - Win11

Why - what is your overall intent ?
A - to get away from paying future subscriptions
B - didn't know you can install current Quicken on several computers at same time

    QWin - R54.16 - Win10
