AT&T Stock Spin Off
neil154
Spoke to tech support and they were not helpful at all The cost basis for the AT&T stock before the spinoff was equal to the cost basis of the AT&T stock plus the WBD stock (which is correct). The value of the 2 stocks together went up but yet the total return went down, this is not possible. Support kept blaming the problem on my financial institution but the spinoff calculation is totally handled by Quicken

Were you using the Average Annual Return in a Portfolio view or the Investment Performance Report?
If you first acquired WBD as part of the spinoff and thus have held it for less than one year you may get odd results. Make sure you include both securities in the report and group by account.
If it is still confusing, look at the details in the Investing Performance Report to see if anything is amiss.
