On April 11, my broker added 38 shares of Warner Discovery stock. On April 18, there was a deposit of 16.78 into cash part of my IRA involving the 38 shares. How would I categorize that last transaction?

How did your broker describe these actions in their download to Q?
If it's simply "Added" I'd call the  brokerage and get more info from them.

I'm assuming this was left over cash from the sale of Warner to Discovery, since it wasn't enough to purchase another share of WBD and WBD did not issue fractional shares. I've never had that happen before, but I'd probably categorize it as "Return of Capital".
