New subscriber and renewal

What is considered a 'new subscriber'? Since it seems that discounts are only applied to a new subscriber can you let your account expire and renew at some later date as a new subscriber? I have heard that if you wait 30 days it will work - is that true? Has anyone tried that?

I have heard that the 30 days is no longer true. Switching to a different Quicken Id would certainly do it, but there is probably a better way. Buy from a retailer instead.
Here are a couple of links for Office Depot for Quicken Deluxe and Premier that aren't new subscriber:
Deluxe, $31.19:

Premier, $46.79:

EDIT, I just noticed that the Premier edition is pick up in store only, but not true for Deluxe for some reason.
